Dunville's Whiskey

Dunville's is one of the great revived names in Irish whiskey, originally associated with Dunville & Co. of Belfast and the Royal Irish Distillery. In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries it was among Ireland's most celebrated whiskey brands, known for labels such as Dunville's VR and Three Crowns, before disappearing following the decline and closure of the original Belfast operation.

The brand was revived by The Echlinville Distillery in County Down, an independent, family-owned farm distillery on the Ards Peninsula. Echlinville brought Dunville's back to market in the 2010s, pairing the heritage of the old Belfast name with a modern Northern Irish whiskey identity.

The range includes Dunville's Three Crowns, Three Crowns Peated, 1808 and a series of more mature single malts, many finished in sherry casks such as Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso and Palo Cortado. The style is generous and cask-led, with notes of orchard fruit, honey, malt, dried fruit, spice, chocolate and polished oak, while peated expressions add a gentle smoky dimension.

Dunville's has become one of the more compelling stories in modern Irish whiskey: not simply a historic label brought back for nostalgia, but a revived brand with real depth, strong cask selection and a growing reputation among drinkers looking beyond the biggest Irish names.
