Isle of Skye is a blended Scotch whisky from Ian Macleod Distillers, the family-owned Scottish spirits company also behind Glengoyne, Tamdhu, Rosebank, Smokehead and Edinburgh Gin. The brand was created in 1933 and takes its identity from Skye, the island closely associated with the Macleod name and with a long tradition of robust, maritime whisky character.

Although it is not a single malt from one distillery, Isle of Skye is built around a blend of malt and grain whiskies, with Island and Speyside malts playing an important role in the style. Its core expression is Isle of Skye 8 Year Old, supported by older age-stated bottlings and limited releases, including more mature expressions such as 12, 18, 21 and 25 Year Old in selected markets.

The whisky is generally smooth, rounded and gently smoky, combining honey, vanilla, malt, orchard fruit and soft spice with a coastal, peated thread. The Island influence gives it more character than many light everyday blends, while the Speyside element brings sweetness and approachability.

Isle of Skye works well as a traditional blended Scotch with a bit more personality than the category's simplest examples. It is approachable enough for highballs and casual serves, but its balance of sweetness, smoke and island identity gives it a clear place among characterful Scottish blends.
